There is now a community college called tunxis that got there name from an indian tribe. In the early 1600s a settlement was created by some of residents of Hartford. this made Farmington one of the oldest inland settlements in the west of the Connecticut River. it was the sixth oldest community in the state. The Farmington River is a great big river.
